Discover the Inspiring Lives of Nobel Prize Winners
The Nobel Prize Museum is dedicated to celebrating the remarkable courage, innovation, and determination of Nobel Laureates. Through a variety of exhibitions, engaging dialogues, educational school programs, and thought-provoking lectures, the museum encourages visitors to reflect on the pressing issues facing humanity today. The groundbreaking ideas and contributions of Nobel Prize winners have the potential to transform our world in significant ways.
Alfred Nobel, a visionary filled with diverse talents, was not only a chemist and engineer but also an inventor and philanthropist. Among his many inventions, he is most famously known for the creation of dynamite. Acknowledging the wealth of creativity in others, Nobel established funding to support and recognize groundbreaking work, which led to the inception of the Nobel Prizes.
One of the most distinguished Nobel Laureates is Marie Curie, recognized not only for her groundbreaking contributions to science but also as one of only five individuals to be awarded the Nobel Prize twice. Uniquely, she is the only person to have received these honors in two separate fields—Physics and Chemistry. In addition to individuals, organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross have received the Nobel Peace Prize on three occasions, setting a remarkable precedent in the history of the awards.
Explore the Exhibitions at the Nobel Prize Museum
The museum hosts three exhibitions, with two of them being permanent fixtures. The centerpiece is the ‘Cultures of Creativity’ exhibition, which aims to engage visitors in contemplations around two pivotal questions: What truly defines creativity, and how can we nurture creative endeavors? Furthermore, it examines the roles of both the individual and the surrounding environment in the creative process.
This exhibition provides a closer look at the achievements and personalities of over thirty Nobel Laureates, alongside the settings where their work flourished. It also covers the rich history surrounding the Nobel Prizes, discussing both celebrated and contentious awards throughout the years.
The second permanent exhibition, known as the Bubble Chamber, is specifically designed to captivate younger audiences. Here, children can immerse themselves in the various subjects recognized by the prizes, including physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace, and economics, as well as learning about the influential figure of Alfred Nobel himself. An exciting scavenger hunt is also part of the experience, designed to keep kids engaged and entertained during their visit.
