Most visitors cross Charles Bridge, walk straight up to the castle, and come back down the same way. This half-day does the opposite: it treats Malá Strana — the Lesser Town below the hill — as the destination rather than the corridor.
Baroque palaces, walled gardens, and streets that empty out completely fifty metres off the main route. We climb to the castle district by a back way, which is both quieter and better looking than the staircase everyone else uses.
At the top the focus is on the shape of the complex and the view rather than on queuing for interiors. If you want to go inside afterwards, you will know exactly what is worth your ticket.
