The Classic Tour takes you to all the main highlights of Berlin. From Alexanderplatz all the way to the Berlin Zoo and Kurfurstendamm, this hop-on hop-off tour takes you there with a total of 19 stops. You can start your tour of the city at any point along the route, and hop-on and off the bus as many times as you like while your ticket is valid.
Amongst the not to miss stops is Lustgarten on Museum Island a UNESCO World Heritage site, with 5 world famous museums. And you can’t say you’ve truly seen Berlin, if you haven’t stopped at the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag and Victory Column in Tiergarten. All these landmarks have stops on the Classic Berlin tour.
But there is more! At Checkpoint Charlie you can still see the landmark boundary marking east and west, but there are also several museums and attractions around the landmark, such as the Mauermuseum and the Trabi-Museum. The Gendarmenmarkt square is another not-to-miss sight in the city, as it is flanked by two beautiful churches and the Concert Hall.
With this additional route you can explore more of East Berlin, and discover locations that aren’t always on must-visit lists but most definitely should be. There are stops at some of the most trendy areas of former East Berlin and sites dedicated to the Berlin Wall. On Oranienburger Straβe, for instance, you can visit incredible restaurants and bars as well as Monbijoupark, with its children’s outdoor pool, playground, and lots of grassy areas to relax on.
Another stop on this hop-on hop-off bus route is the Berlin Wall Memorial. This is one of the most important places of remembrance dedicated to the division of the city by the Berlin Wall and the deaths that occurred there. The next stop on the route is less about history and more about fun, as Mauerpark is known for its flea market and Sunday afternoon karaoke.
From the park, the bus tour will take you past Alexanderplatz with its TV-Tower, over the Karl-Marx-Allee with its socialist architecture, to the East Side Gallery. This is the longest open-air gallery in the world and consists of original pieces of the Berlin Wall. Also at this stop, you can visit the Oberbaumbrücke, one of Berlin’s most beautiful and imposing bridges.
