Dark Matter is a unique art space in Berlin. Set in a former warehouse in East Berlin, this enormous area is divided into multiple pitch dark rooms, lit up by spectacular light installations. Founded by light artist Chistopher Bauder, the museum displays both his artworks and temporary installations by other multimedia artists.
The museum is under creative supervision of Christopher Bauder, a renowned artist known for his large scale light, media and sound installations in Berlin. After more than twenty years of creating light installations in museums and in urban spaces, especially the city streets, he decided to collect his works in the Dark Matter museum, where people can admire his fascinating artworks in one place.
The installations by Bauder and the temporary exhibitions are a total experience. Every room is pitch dark, and the only light is from the installations. Light art, multimedia, electronic music and sound design come together as immersive artworks that blur the line between reality and the digital world. The installations invite you to escape reality and dive into the unique world of light art, where you lose track of time and immerse yourself into this fascinating experience.
The fascinating light art museum Dark Matter is divided over multiple spaces, and invites you to sit down, walk around, explore and get immersed.
