At Dutch Pancake Masters, a pancake bakery in the heart of the city, you can now bake your own poffertjes. Join Mrs. Sweetcakes in learning about this delicious treat, and bake your own on the griddle. Mix your dough, drip them into the plate and fry them till tasty. And of course, taste your own creation! Aside from learning how to make poffertjes, Mrs. Sweetcakes will also teach you about the Dutch paintings that line the restaurant, and the history of Dutch art, while you fry and eat.
Poffertjes are small, fluffy Dutch pancakes that are traditionally served with powdered sugar and butter, and have a delicious soft texture. They are made from a batter similar to Dutch pancake batter, but much thicker, for more control, and more fluff. The batter is poured into a special pan with small round wells, to give their signature shape. The poffertjes cook quickly and puff up into little balls, that you have to flip on time! They are typically served hot and fresh, and enjoyed at markets, fairs, events and even at home. While this sounds like a bit of a challenge, poffertjes are easy to make. Even if you have no baking experience, Mrs. Sweetcakes will help you out, so your end result will taste good whatever you do!
The poffertjes are made in the workshop of Dutch Pancake Masters, an authentic pancake shop, and you will learn from Mrs. Sweetcakes, a baker inspired by the paintings of Dutch painter Anton Pieck. She will also show you the paintings she is inspired by, including Rembrandt, Jan Steen and Van Gogh, masters of the Dutch painting. The experience is interactive, fun, and family friendly, and educational as well. Great family fun, so get your tickets now!
