On top of the low countries
At the Euromast observation tower in Rotterdam you can feel on top of the world and especially the Netherlands as you look out over the city and the surrounding area from either the observation deck at 112 metres or from the top of the tower at 185 metres.
The Euromast is the tallest building that is open to the public in the Netherlands, giving you views unlike any other in the country. When the weather is clear, you can see much further than just Rotterdam. Also, Delft, The Hague, the North Sea and sometimes even Belgium can be seen.
The Euromast is an iconic building in Rotterdam and it takes pride of place on the Rotterdam skyline. You’ll be able to take the most amazing pictures from the viewing platform at 100 metres, where you can also visit the restaurant for brunch, lunch, high tea or dinner. You can buy a separate ticket on location for a ride on the Euroscoop, a slowly spinning glass elevator. It gives you the best view of the environment.
History of the Euromast Tower
The Euromast Rotterdam was built in 1960 for the exhibition and garden festival Floriade. The tower was designed by architect H.A. Maaskant and contractor J.P. van Eesteren. The Rotterdam tower is made of reinforced concrete, and it took only 23 days to build.
At first, the tower was 100 metres high and the tallest building in Rotterdam. But then new and higher buildings were constructed around it to take its title away. So they added the Space Tower to top of the Euromast, making it 185 metres and the highest tower again.
The Euromast is part of the World Federations of Great Towers, which is a collection of the 37 highest and most beautiful towers in the world, like the Eiffel Tower, Burj Khalifa, and the Empire State Building.
