Discover the Nobel Prize Laureates
The Nobel Prize Museum is dedicated to celebrating the courage, innovation, and determination of its esteemed Laureates. Through a variety of engaging formats, including exhibitions, discussions, educational programs, and lectures, the museum encourages visitors to reflect on the pressing issues facing our society today. The groundbreaking ideas and monumental contributions of Nobel Prize winners have the potential to inspire change and impact the world profoundly.
Alfred Nobel himself was a visionary with diverse interests. A skilled chemist, engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, he is perhaps best known for his creation of dynamite. Recognizing the wealth of creativity and brilliance in others, Nobel sought to create a platform to support and reward innovative thinkers. This noble intention ultimately led to the establishment of the revered Nobel Prizes that honor such excellence.
A prominent figure among the Laureates is Marie Curie, a remarkable scientist who stands out as one of only five individuals to be awarded two Nobel Prizes in different scientific fields—specifically, one in physics and another in chemistry. In addition to individual winners, organizations can also be recognized; notably, the International Committee of the Red Cross has had the honor of winning the Nobel Peace Prize three times, a unique achievement in the award’s history.
Explore the Exhibitions at the Nobel Prize Museum
The museum hosts three dynamic exhibitions, with two designed as permanent fixtures. The primary permanent exhibit, titled
Cultures of Creativity, engages visitors with essential questions: What defines creativity? How can we nurture it effectively? Are the contributions of individuals more significant than the environments that shape them?
This exhibit showcases the remarkable works and personalities of over thirty Nobel Laureates, offering insights into their inspirations and environments. Furthermore, the exhibition chronicles the history of the Nobel Prizes, highlighting both celebrated and contentious awards throughout the years.
The second permanent exhibition, the Bubble Chamber, specifically caters to younger visitors. This interactive space allows children to explore various prize categories like physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace, and economics, while also learning about Alfred Nobel himself. To enhance their experience, the museum has also organized an enjoyable scavenger hunt that keeps kids engaged and entertained during their visit.
