Sachsenhausen was the first purpose built concentration camp built under the oversight of SS-leader Himmler, designed as a labour camp under the Nazi regime. About the tour

The tour takes you past all the important parts of the former camp. You’ll explore the entire grounds with enough time to take everything in. Do keep in mind that this six hour tour can be intensive, there is a lot of walking involved. The tour runs in all weather circumstances, but mostly takes place outside, so prepare yourself if needed (jackets, sunscreen, umbrellas). There are no shops on the ground, but feel free to bring drinks and snacks. Your guide take you get to the grounds and back, but travel is by public transport, an ABC-ticket is required. In the town of Oranienburg and at Sachsenhausen Memorial itself you’ll be taken around by your guide, the entire tour is guided, and they will help you get back to Berlin as well. The entire trip takes about six hours, and offers a complete exploration.
