Lahemaa is not only a home for wild animals and birds, but also a place where you can discover the natural and wild beauties of Estonia.
Lahemaa National Park, located on the north coast of the country, is the country’s largest and first protected nature reserve. It covers 725 square kilometres of diverse and stunningly beautiful coastline, fields and woodlands. Lahemaa is home to many wild animals such as deer, wild boar, bear and lynx. Watch the birds flying in the forest and listen to the various species of woodpeckers. Immerse yourself in the flow of peace.
The clean natural air and spectacular scenery of this diverse region are ideal for an unforgettable day trip away from the crowded city.
We will start exploring Lahemaa National Park with a pleasant walk through the impressive Viru bog. The bog has extraordinary diversity and colourfulness, and from the observation tower you can admire the beauty of the landscape. This area is accessible via a specially built wooden boardwalk and offers visitors an up-close and rare view of nature in this wetland. After the walk we will enjoy a nice coffee break with local sweet.
On our way back to Tallinn we will make a photo stop to catch a marvellous view of the Jägala waterfalls. Estonia’s highest waterfalls are a must-visit in all seasons and are even more impressive in winter, when the solid water sculptures are creators of frozen art that should not be missed.
