This unique venue offers an engaging self-guided tour that invites you to delve into the rich history of Lucas Bols, the mastermind behind the world’s oldest distilled spirit brand, and discover how this beloved spirit has played a pivotal role in cocktail culture.

As you embark on this immersive journey, you’ll uncover the evolution of the company and explore the artistry behind various flavors. The tour includes a visit to the Hall of Taste, the Ingredient Room, and the Genever Room, culminating at the Mirror Bar, where expert bartenders will craft a cocktail tailored specifically to your preferences. This personalized touch ensures a memorable tasting experience that you won’t forget.

Delve Into the Essence of Jenever

The term jenever derives from the Dutch word for juniper berries (jeneverbes), which are essential in the distillation of this renowned gin. Historically, juniper was utilized to enhance the taste of early gins, crafted from rudimentary malt wines that often left much to be desired. Each sip of jenever today is a testament to centuries of refinement and innovation.

At The House of Bols, you will not only indulge your taste buds but also gain insights into the intriguing history of this spirit through hands-on experiences, including sampling various stages of jenever production. You will also have the opportunity to see the beautifully maintained traditional distillery room, showcasing the methods used by past generations. The bartenders at The Mirror Bar are eager to share their invaluable knowledge, equipping you with skills that will surely impress your guests during your next cocktail gathering.

The tour was ok, but I wanted more interaction with the bartenders. Rating is mostly for the cool history bit, overall a decent visit. Not my fave though!
