An interesting museum featuring the life of Van Gogh. I came here with only general knowledge of Van Gogh and learned a lot from the audio guide. I didn't know the reason he did so many self portraits was because he was too poor to hire models. Van Gogh's relationship with his brother was my biggest takeaway from this
We had a very enjoyable two-hour visit to the Van Gogh Museum. We booked our tickets one day in advance, which worked smoothly. I would recommend arriving on time for your reserved slot. The Van Gogh Museum with an audio mediatour added, which changes the visit considerably. Rather than reading wall texts, you hear the story of each painting alongside extracts from Van Gogh’s own letters to his brother Theo.
The commentary explains what he was attempting technically and what was happening in his life at the time, turning a gallery walk into something closer to a biography told in front of the evidence.
